What Happens to Your Photos After Our Session?
After your family photo session, the magic doesn’t stop when the camera is put away. There’s a whole behind-the-scenes process to make sure your memories are preserved in the best way possible. 1. Backing Up Your Photos
As soon as your session ends, I immediately copy your photos onto two separate hard drives to make sure they’re securely backed up. This is one of the most important steps to ensure your memories are safe and protected from any technical mishaps. By having multiple backups, I can rest easy knowing your precious moments are secure.
2. Taking Time to Review
Before I dive into culling and editing, I like to take a day or two to let the session settle in my mind. Giving it some space allows me to return to the images with fresh eyes, ensuring I select the very best ones for your final gallery. I carefully cull through the photos, choosing the most authentic moments that truly capture your family’s love and connection.
3. Hand-Editing the Color Photos
Once the top images are selected, it’s time for the editing process. I take my time here because I want each image to shine. Every photo is hand-edited to perfection—adjusting colors, enhancing light, and fine-tuning details to make sure they look their absolute best. This process can take a little time, but it’s important to me that nothing is rushed.
4. Creating Black & White Copies
After I’ve perfected the color images, I create black-and-white versions of each photo. Black-and-white photography brings out emotion and highlights expressions in a unique way, and I treat these images with the same care as the color versions. Each black-and-white image is carefully reviewed and hand-edited to make sure it conveys the depth and feeling of the moment.
5. Exporting and Uploading Your Gallery
Once the editing is complete, it’s time to export your photos and prepare them for your online gallery. I upload all your beautifully edited images—both in color and black & white—into a private gallery where you’ll be able to view, download, and share your photos. The gallery is easy to navigate, so you can enjoy your images as soon as they’re ready.

The final step in the process is one of my personal favorites—creating your custom photo album. This is where your memories come to life in a tangible, lasting form. I take great care in selecting the layout and flow of the album to make sure it tells the story of your session in a way that feels natural and beautiful.
